RADIO

Free Grace Gospel Radio AM 990

When missionary David DiCanio arrived in Liberia in 2011, he says he felt “compelled by the Lord” to seek an FM broadcasting license through the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA). DiCanio was granted permission to begin broadcasting in April 2017, and operated that Christian radio station for 8 years. However, on October 13, 2024, the station went off the air following DiCanio’s suspension and eventual deposition from the gospel ministry in connection with his opposition to the infiltration of Contemporary Christian Music into a sister denomination. DiCanio and others formed a new entity called Free Grace Gospel Mission in Liberia (FGGMIL) and are seeking to raise funds for a new station.

CHURCH

Free Grace Gospel Church of Liberia

The Free Grace Gospel Mission in Liberia (FGGMIL) also oversees a church planting ministry. Currently the mission has one church that meets on the Roberts Field Highway, just past the Baptist Seminary (if coming from ELWA Junction) on the right, near the Old Love the Child Orphanage, by the former Highway gas station. David DiCanio preaches each Lord’s Day. Services start at 11 am each Sunday morning. The congregation was formed with a prayer meeting on December 4, 2024, when attendees at the Free Presbyterian Mission Church of Liberia separated over Mr. DiCanio’s deposition from the gospel ministry. The new congregation held its first official church service on December 8, 2024.

FELLOWSHIP

Free Grace Gospel Fellowship

Rev. Milos Solc and Rev. Stephen Hamilton pulled their churches out of the Free Presbyterian Church of North America in opposition to the deposition of Rev. David DiCanio. Mr. Solc, a missionary in the Czech Republic, and Mr. Hamilton the pastor of Lehigh Valley Free Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania, formed a new fellowship of churches along with Mr. DiCanio’s new mission in Liberia. Additionally, Mr. Stephen Miller joined the men with his work in England. The fellowship is called Free Grace Gospel Fellowship and started with these four Free Grace Gospel churches. Information regarding the stand of these men, along with the stand of Rev. Andrew Foster can be found HERE, and also in THIS other article.

CHILDREN

Sunday School for Children

Missionary Joanne Greer, under the FGGMIL, runs a Sunday School in the Baptist Seminary Community near the Old Love the Child Orphanage. Newsletter Report: “The walls are made of rough boards on two sides, with chain-link fencing enclosing the rest. Once a roadside restaurant, the humble shack now serves a new purpose. It is the gathering place for a growing Sunday School in a quiet corner of a suburb outside Liberia’s capital. Inside, children shuffle in: some wide-eyed and hesitant, a few attending such a class for the very first time, and some are regulars. The challenge, says missionary Joanne Greer, is to teach them not only Bible lessons but also the simple discipline of listening, sitting still, and learning together.”

SCHOOL

Free Grace Gospel Academy

Free Grace Gospel Mission in Liberia is in the process of seeking a permit for a “forms-model” school. The “forms” concept comes from Great Britain and was popularized in the Classical Christian school environment. Students are grouped by stages of development and ability, rather than simply by age. School principal Joanne Greer says, “‘Form One’ is roughly equivalent to grades 1-3, and ‘Form Two’ to grades 4-6. Several students of different ages share the same lessons, but they work at their own level. Also, they move from form to form based on their mastery of certain concepts or skills rather than just their age, or just ‘passing a test.'” This forms-model is currently awaiting written approval from the Ministry of Education.

SUPPORT

How to financially support the mission in Liberia:

Friends in the UK have formed a registered charity to enable UK taxpayers to claim tax relief through Gift Aid when supporting mission works affiliated with the Free Grace Gospel Fellowship. Stephen Miller, Stephen McAreavey and Alistair Heanen are acting trustees of the Free Grace Gospel Mission Trust (FGGMT), a Charitable Incorporated Organization (CIO) registered in England and Wales. The charity is now receiving donations under Charity Number 1214514. The CIO is recognized by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) for Gift Aid purposes, enabling eligible UK taxpayers to claim Gift Aid on qualifying donations. For more information, contact info@fggmt.org or call +44 7702 463968. Those in North America may contact info@fggmil.org to support.

Free Grace Gospel Mission in Liberia is approved by the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) to test AM 990 kHz. The AM band was used prior to the 14-year civil war and is now being resurrected through our mission as Free Grace Gospel Radio AM 990.

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
